I am trying to cut costs. I currently have a 66 plate C class amg line auto doing average 47 mpg with 115k on the clock. I do 20k per annum which is mixed town and motorway. My insurance is £600 per annum and i got a £13k loan at only 2.9% apr i owe £11k on this which i expect my car is worth so it wipes its mouth so to speak. I am trying to find a auto car mid size with great mpg low road tax etc. Any thoughts on this? i like a nice car i have looked at the 118d auto but mpg doesn't seem great the Golf DSG. Any advice please on what i could change to if at all?

Skoda Superb- i prefer the look of the estates.  I had a 140bhp 2.0 diesel...great motorway car, £30 road tax at the time. 50mpg all day long, 60 on a run.  Not upto date on the latest models, but the always get good reviews.

In reality, are you going to consistently get more than 55 mpg out of another car?

And then you've the costs involved in changing, particularly if you're trading in / buying your next car from a dealer.
