Refused renewal on home and contents insurance

Hi, I wonder if anyone could offer me some advice please.  Back in June 2019 I had a significant sewage leak in my home.  I claimed on my home insurance and my bathroom was replaced due to the health risk the leak created.  Then sadly in November last year I had a break in at my home whilst I was at work.  I claimed on my home insurance.  However, I wasn’t happy with the way that the insurer chose to settle the claim and so I complained to the ombudsman.  It took some time for the ombudsman to reply and come to their decision to support the insurance company.  The next I hear was that my insurance company was not offering me a renewal once my current insurance comes to an end due to my insurance claim history.  I’ve tried to buy elsewhere but the premium has now gone up a staggering 150% due to the fact that as I’ve now been refused I have to have specialist insurance. I had 2 claims on situations neither of which I asked to happen.  I honestly feel that the insurance company have refused my renewal not because of my claim history but because I went to the ombudsman.  Can anyone give me advice as to what to do as I’m pretty desperate right now?  Any advice greatly appreciated and received.

I don't think "not offering to renew" is the same as "being refused insurance"-  but maybe someone more knowledgeable about that side of the issues can confirm.

Its not however a minority of insurers do ask if an insurer has refused to offer renewal terms and so it depends on the exact question asked on if you have to declare it or not
