in Cutting tax
Hi,
Completed a self assessment and learned about claiming tax back on gift aid charity donations.
Visited a museum owned by a charity.
Base ticket price was £18.15, but there was a ticket for £20 which included a 10% donation "which enables us to reclaim tax on the whole ticket price under Gift Aid".
I *think* this scheme is detailed on the government website (can't post a link but search "Gift aid viewing charity property")
If the museum can claim gift aid on the whole ticket price (i.e. £20), can I claim tax back (well the difference between 20% & 40%) on the whole amount as well? Or can I only claim on the 10% difference?

The whole £20 is treated as a net donation.1
