Affordability Complaint Success Rate?

Hi guys,
I have received a response from my request for more information when being served a "letter before court claim". However, their email response was not what I asked for, and I have asked them again and re-attached the reply form.
I am also reading up on affordability complaints, and I believe I have a strong case for this. There was no-way I was ever going to be able to afford the monthly payments and as a result I took out more loans.
I am in a weird situation. I think I have 30 days from today to start paying something, but I will now contact the original lender with an affordability complaint and tell the debt collector I have done so.
Can I ask if there is any success rates in regards to this approach, or am I simply wasting my time? Will they still be able to take me to court if I go this route?
Sorry for the questions. I have been panicking none stop about this. I had a bad 3 months and ruined my entire finances through gambling. I just want the best way to sort it and I know this is the place!
