Retail Bank Accounts

Anyone know if there are banks that still operate without the need for on-line banking, or the need to download apps?

Most high street banks will have accounts that don't need online banking or an app, have you asked any?

Dozens of them, any of the mainstream banks will have accounts that do not require online access or app.

I am confused on the following point. Don't some banks expect you to confirm a potential transaction in their app?
Are these transactions on-line only or do some high street banks require you to confirm a transaction in-store?
I have never had to do the latter, but I am sure I have seen some posts on here where people have had to confirm their transaction at the till.

Do you mean using a branch for transactions?

Most high street banks do but finding a branch may be a problem.

Many banks allow deposits and withdrawals at the post office.

Maybe if you explained what you want to do it would be easier to answer you.

If you don’t want to use an app to confirm Visa/MasterCard transactions then there is alternatives such as phone or text I think.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand why they require the use of all this technology. I have a current account with my bank that has several thousand pounds in credit. Furthermore, I do not require an app or an online account in order to run it. Why should savings be any different?

For many institutions it's to keep running costs down and for customer convenience. As mentioned above by Eskbanker and Flaneure_Lobster, no doubt if you wanted to you could manage a savings account by branch with a high street bank or building society.

Obviously the downside to eschewing online banking and smartphone and tablet apps is that you won't get the best rates; by making your comments on this site you use the internet so why don't you want to use online banking?

It's not clear from either of your posts what type of account you want or how you would like to use it, but from your mention of savings here then I'm sure if you really want one it'll be possible to find a savings account that can be operated without going online or using an app - Building Societies may still offer passbook accounts that are about as low tech as you can get these days.

Yes, and many building societies will operate accounts by post.

My mum has a bog standard Lloyds current account, with an associated cheque book and debit card.
She goes shopping, puts petrol in her car, pays for meals in restaurants etc etc.
No app, no online banking etc, and she manages perfectly well, as I'm sure she would if her account was with any of the other 'traditional' banks.

As already suggested above, perhaps if you explain what it is you wish to do, or what's causing you problems, it'd be easier to help?
