Bank security - be patient while I vent

Opened a Nationwide FlexDirect account - tried to pay money into it from my Sainsbury savings account. Apparently, according to Sainsbury's, I 'don't own that account'. Erm - yes I do. Ended up having to transfer from Sainsbugs to my TSB account and then from TSB to Nationwide - TSB happy to accept that I have every right to pay money into my own account!! Now need to set up £1000 per month to go in and out to meet their Ts&Cs, heaven help us all.
I have a Wise sterling account, and needed to open a Wise Euro account. On my third attempt now, and still no further forward. Have scanned passport into the system via my laptop, taken a photo of it via my phone, taken a selfie, and transferred £20 as requested, all in order as I got a big green tick on my phone screen. Verification is 'in progress' and might take 5 days. I already have an account with them, dammit, use it regularly to transfer to Ireland and Australia.
To quote Piglet, 'This IS me.'

it is not entirely clear what you are saying happened
Are you saying when you set up your new payee on the Sainsbury's account that confirmation of payee came back as failed?1 -

Recently banks seem to be focussing on inconveniencing their entire customer base in the hope of catching a handful of bad 'uns. It's a strategy that will cost them in the longer term.
Vote with your feet and open an account with a slightly less-bad bank.0 -
