DFG means tested and save monthly DLA

I've got a disability and I need to have modifications made to my house. I'm able to work from home as my job is computer based. I receive DLA which is not means tested.
My wages cover all my outgoings (I only buy what I need and I have some remaining money to save each month from it) because of this I am able to save all of the DLA money. As a DFG is means tested and my savings are above the threshold, should I have to contribute as much as the online calculator says I should when the savings are mainly due to the monthly DLA being saved?

If your savings are over the threshold then there will likely not be any entitlement to a DFG.
