Tracking missing private pension contributions

Hi
I was trying to access or create a discussion on how to get my former employers to fill in the NI contributions gaps for two periods in which I definitely worked for them.  I wonder if there is an ombudsman etc to whom I can take proof of my employment during the time period.

I don’t know whether they are clerical errors or payment omissions but the upshot is that from two separate employers I have respectively a gap from 1986 to 1987, and from 1990 to 1992.  One employer still exists, and the other has been bought by Deloitte. I have tried to get info from each of them with no results. The first says records are not kept and the second has been acquired. I do however how a letter from the pension trustee of the first employer which attests to my employment period which includes the 1986 to 1987 period.

Thanks in advance for any help.

And will this ultimately make the slightest bit of difference to your State Pension entitlement?  Which is presumably what you are concerned about.

Have a look at this thread, in particular the second post: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6267734/is-there-a-really-detailed-online-method-to-check-nics#latest

I'm sorry it is such a long read, but it might be useful. Could I suggest you come back and share the findings in the section headed 'Scheme Membership section' (redacting any personal identifiers) which you'll find at the back of the huge pack of hard copy papers you'll receive in due course!
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
