It's impossible to say without knowing your situation. An adult could last a long time without spending much at all on clothes, but a growing child needing school uniform etc would be far more. You really need to look at what you have spent historically, and then work out if there are any economies that can be made. Is this for a dmp?2

No, I am debt free but want to start sinking funds for yearly expenses. I was thinking of over estimating for each fund and excess money I can balance transfer in April to mortgage savingsSaving for a house in 2025 LISA £7726/£15000 Emergency Fund £1000/£6000 No spend Year 20230

When I saw the title I was thinking this was just for a day out.
Hugh potential variations eg haircuts - me £6, wife £16 every six weeks; clothes - me just blown my budget with 2 pairs of trousers for £50Never pay on an estimated bill2 -
I think I need to sit down and draw up the costs of shoes, uniform and clothes needed yearly, A budget for Christmas and birthdays and a budget for the car and a budget for haircuts. Then I’m going to split those costs over 12 months and if I have Christmas and birthday money left in dec or April I can pop it straight into the savingsSaving for a house in 2025 LISA £7726/£15000 Emergency Fund £1000/£6000 No spend Year 20230

It really depends on where you live and where you shop or go for these services. My haircuts are £50 and I go every 6-8 weeks and have it highlighted once or twice a year which costs £90. That is cheaper than some and more expensive than others. I like my hairdresser and can afford it though. It comes out of my monthly personal spends of £300. So for me it is around £40-£50 a month. I could get it a lot cheaper if I shopped around but I can afford it so happy to spend it.
I don't often buy new clothes as I have loads but I walk a lot so do buy hiking shoes/boots which cost a lot and obviously new underwear and the odd item. Children probably go through more but their clothes can be cheaper. Personally I would allow £30 per person. That also comes out of my personal spends.
Food very variable according to where you shop and what you buy again. We spend £75 a week for 2 of us. We do not buy much alcohol though. You have a lot of children I seem to recall but teenagers usually eat loads. I think for an adult though £35 - £50 is probably enough per week if you eat lots of fresh food but not loads of meat. We do not do desserts and we menu plan and batch cook and do a combination of Lidl and Waitrose. I allow £300 a month for the two of us anyway.
Gifts we allow a lot for but we only really buy or gift to each other, our daughters and son in law and our 2 grandchildren unless it is a special birthday. I do send my mum flowers or a hamper at Christmas/birthdays and mothers day. I personally allow £100 per month for gifts. I sometimes do one off charity donations too out of that. That comes out of our joint account so I suppose half each.

what what can be a good amount to one person can be extortionate to someone else or too low for someone else.
food for example for us as a household of two is about 420 per month at the minute but that includes all supermarket shopping including toiletries , cleaning products etc. we also include a couple of prescriptions or any medicine in that figure.
prior to the current cost of living it was about 320 a month.
clothing is difficult for us as we don’t tend to spend some years but then have a splurge a year or two later . Again it depends how often you need to buy clothes, whether you buy designer brands also where you shop.
gifts we spend about 400 a year as don’t have many people to buy for and that includes gifts to each other for birthday and Christmas.
but it is important to be realistic and not pull a figure out of nowhere because it sounds ok. Maybe analyse your spending for about 3 months to get the average and use that to begin with.1 -

food I was thinking £25 per person, the smaller kids will have a bit less and the older kids a bit more, plus an extra £20 for snacks etc.
car payment I will add up the tax, insurance from last year, 2x services per year and tyres and divide by 12, I try to pay ins and tax yearly to save money.Pet insurance is paid yearly but will divide vet costs by 12.Christmas I was thinking £75 per person and similar for birthdays. It is a modest amount imo but as we have a large family it all adds up.That’s about it I think.Saving for a house in 2025 LISA £7726/£15000 Emergency Fund £1000/£6000 No spend Year 20230
