in Credit cards
Hi all. I received a message in my Barclays app saying that the contactless payments feature through the Barclays app will stop working on 30 June, and that the Barclays debit card can be now used with Google Pay. (Finally!)
Does anyone know if we will also be able use Google Pay with Barclaycard (the credit card)? I tried to register Barclaycard with Google Pay and it failed, it says not supported. This page www.barclaycard.co.uk/personal/customer/contactless-mobile seems to offer no alternative post 30 June which is weird.
Thanks.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for the change?
You don’t need to do anything. The service will close on 30 June 2023 and you’ll be automatically deregistered.
2. What can I use instead of Contactless Mobile payments?
If you use your credit card on the Contactless Mobile payment service, please use your plastic card for future payments.

Late update but had a conversation with Barclays customer support about this, they said they're looking at supporting Google Pay for Barclaycard but had no timeline on when that might be.

One party has the incentive to retain custom. The other doesn't.
Curve will be making a loss on the transaction by getting debit interchange whilst paying credit interchange and doing unpaid admin at every point of the chargeback going forward.
Barclaycard will have the potential for lending money, cross selling and further interchange to make a profit.
