I know that income protection payments now affect universal credit payments and other means tested benefits. So is it possible to get school fees insurance or mortgage protection insurance which bypasses the individual and goes straight to the provide or school.?

No, these are just marketing names. Ultimately they are ASU/PPI or PHI products that replace your income which you can use for school fees, mortgage as their names suggest or for holidays or food or lap dances.

That sounds a little bit like "can I hide some of my income so I can claim bigger benefits?".

Creative accounting like that is only for the big players.
