I've overpaid tax and HMRC's website won't pay the refund unless I have a passport or driving licence photo, I have neither so can't get my money back. This must affect thousands of people. What can we do?

Try posting on the Cutting Tax board rather than the benefits board.
Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.

    Moved as suggested

Can you advise the process for claiming a refund online please ?
Are you trying to a Self Assessment refund or a PAYE refund (basically anything personal to you not from filing a tax return)?

Yes, no SA involved. Gov.uk website says it will be dealt with over Jun-Oct. I can wait but if I can send a wee message online I would.

Can you expand a bit further ?
    .
Do you actually mean that the lack of photo ID means that you are unable to set up a government gateway account which would enable you to tell them where to transfer the refund to ?

Have you spoken to HMRC and requested that they send you a cheque ? I've received tax refunds this way as executor of an estate, without any need for ID.

    This ^^^

If you can't get online (or choose not to) then you can just ask HMRC to send a cheque instead.

If you do nothing a cheque will be sent anyway 3 weeks after the refund was calculated.

The above assumes this isn't a refund from a Self Assessment return.
