Insurance cheaper with a claim!

Checking quotes for a friend.
One accident not their fault but their insurer paid out as the other driver was uninsured.
Cheapest quote with £0 excess  with claim £291.48

Took the claim off as interested to see how much difference it would be.
Cheapest quote with £0 excess  with no claim £334.74


Certainly not what I was expecting.

Possible that by mucking about with quotes, adding and removing claims etc, you triggered an anti-fraud mechanism which inflated the price because it saw you as untrustworthy.

We had a renewal which we informed them of a non fault accident for a named driver strangely it made the renewal cheaper
