Credit card protection for deposits with bedroom fitters

in Credit cards
I am planning a bedroom refit. The supplier is asking for a 50% deposit, with the remaining 50% to be paid on completion. They said that I can pay as much of the deposit as I need using a credit card.
My question is: how much protection would the credit card deposit (or partial deposit) provide? For example, if the supplier does not turn up, or does not finish the job, or does not finish the job to our satisfaction/expectations, would we have any recourse as a consequence of part-paying the deposit using a credit card?

Paying any amount by credit card (towards something costing between £100 and £30K) grants you the same rights against the card provider as you have against the merchant, when there's a breach of contract or misrepresentation. The responsibility to demonstrate breach of contract rests with the customer....
Edit: this assumes that 'the supplier' and 'the fitters' are one and the same, section 75 protection doesn't apply when you pay someone who isn't actually the supplier of the service.0 -

Just be aware of the £100 floor and how that may apply... if its one invoice for £5,000 (or whatever their quote is) you are all good. If the invoice says there are 8 doors at £90 each and 8 door handles at £10 each etc you may find these arent covered because S75 requires each item to be over £100 not just the total price.
If the supplier just didnt turn up then that more likely would be processed as a chargeback in the first instance which has no floors or ceilings on item/transaction value but is limited to the amount you paid by that card.0
