Buildings Insurance.

Hi I've been paying my Buildings Insurance for years. Some cladding fell off my house & slightly scratched my neighbours car during category 1 storm Noah, my insurers are refusing to pay out due to poor workmanship regards the cladding I am appealing. My neighbour is threatening to take me to court & won't go through his car insurance third party against my liability. Advice please he's quoting £2,530 for repairs. I'm a widow & do not have this money.

Do you have a link to the policy wording? How long ago was the cladding put on (if over 6 years ago just say that)?

For your neighbour to be able to successfully sue you they would have to prove you were negligent. If it happened in a storm its most likely "an act of God" and therefore not your fault unless the cladding has clearly been in need of some attention and you have been putting it off.

    Agree with the response above.

Think your neighbour would find it difficult to prove you liable, unless there is some evidence that the cladding was in poor repair and you should have been aware of this.
