Hi
Property flooded. Carpet downstairs is ruined and soem skirting. Probably about £1.3k to make good again. Is it worth putting in a claim or will they just put up my premiums and - because Ive reported a flood - it will show in any future surveyors reports when I come to sell?
Ive never had to make a claim before, so looking for some advice and guidance.
Thanks

It will come up when you sell whether or not you make a claim, because one of the standard enquiries (asked of you) is whether the property has flooded.1 -
Hi, if you've not had to make a claim before (lucky!), I'd have a good look at your policy and read all the small print. Then you can decide whether it's going to be cost-effective. Check how much the excess will be.
But first step has to be reading your policy. All insurance is not the same, as I'm sure you are aware.
Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Although I do carry out careful research before posting and never intend to mislead or supply out-of-date or incorrect information, please do not rely 100% on what you are reading. Verify everything in order to protect yourself as you are responsible for any action you consequently take.0 -

The policy does include flood damage, although in the exclusions it says "PLUMBING AND DRAINAGE: claims relating to rainwater drains and soakaways" (?)
