I wonder if someone can reassure me I am doing this right.

I want to switch my Halifax current account to First Direct for the £175 switch bonus.

I have opened up the FD current account, got account number, sort code etc.

I now want to  switch the Halifax. I have found the page on FD app where I start inputting details of the account I  want to switch, but it makes no mention of the £175 bonus. I would feel a bit better if it did 🙃.

Am I applying properly/does it just not mention the bonus? Should I apply from FD page straight from Google?

I am new to the switching game- still nervously waiting for Santander to pay out from a switch to them last month. I just want to make sure I am doing it right. I would have thought there would be a mention that I would get the reward. 🤔
(Edit: I would have thought there would be a mention that there was a reward to be had).

Thank you.

  • The switching incentives are not mentioned when applying. Not done First direct, but all others never mentioned the bonus.
  • It's because you are not applying for or claiming a reward. You've applied to switch an account to FD, if you've met the criteria then you'll get the reward as an extra.

I don't remember a single swap (I've done 10 in the last year) where there was any indication of bonus status other than the bonus being paid.

Thank you so much Middle_of_the_Road, I appreciate it.

It would be really handy for us Nervous Nellie's, if they just mentioned that we are  in the right place for the bonus. For the banks, of course, it means they don't have to update their switching page every time  a bonus starts or finishes, which I do understand.  It is really just a "me problem" 🤣.

    Thank you.

    I have another question, sorry.

I have opened the FD account, and have now applied to switch over the Halifax account. Is there any reason to wait for the switch to take place before opening the Regular Saver Account (paying 7%)?

    Thank you again 😊.
