I'm not working at the moment but I have an income that's quite steady from a property I rent out.
Do I still put my status as unemployed on a credit card application as technically I'm not employed?

Yes - you would have to say you're unemployed.

Its a job of sorts, not sure how I would categorise it though,  You providing a service.

So either sole trader or PLC (if registered).

In the UK, we would call it 'landlord'.

It would differ by lenders, but where I work we would class being a landlord as being employed, more like self employed.

A person cannot be a PLC... a LTD, LLP, PLC etc are legal entities in their own right. The OP would be self employed or an employee/director of the Ltd (I doubt they'd have listed on a stock market based on what they have said).

If its all passive income and someone else manages etc then potentially it could be "independent means" but it really depends on the options available on the list.
