Voluntary NICs bought very close to claiming State Pension

Hi, yesterday I finally managed to buy in 6 years of VNICs. I paid online from my bank but didn't have an option to ask for a receipt, however I know the money has gone from my account. I can claim my SP from 1st May this year, but know it's very unlikely that my new additional VNICs will show up on the NI record by then. I am wondering whether to delay claiming my pension until they do show up, or whether to claim it anyway asap in the expectation that when the records are updated my weekly pension will increase automatically (probably several months down the line judging by all the delays and backlogs etc) Any comments welcome, thanks.

If you have paid and the records have not been updated by the time you receive the pension then the increase will be backdated when they do update the records.
Have you received an invitation to claim yet ?

Did you mention when you spoke to HMRC to get your reference that you were intending to claim your state pension shortly ?

Yes I did, and was told to do the online payment asap, but it would be at least 8 weeks before it would show up on my NI record. I haven't actually claimed my SP yet (I will be 66 on 1st May) as I wasn't sure if it would complicate getting the higher pension figure when it does eventually show up on my record. It does sound as though it would be back dated to date of payment though, so not much point in delaying my claim (?)
