Travel insurance delay benefit

10 Posts

Struggling to find the information online so hoping someone here can shed some light...
I was delayed for > 12h coming back at the end of my trip from Germany on the 17th Feb. It was due to ground staff strikes (everything was grounded) so can't get compension from airline.
I have travel insurance through HSBC Premier and Nationwide Flex Plus. If I've understood correctly, I can claim a £50 travel delay benefit for both me and my wife. My questions are:
1. Have I understood the documentation correctly?...I don't need to provide evidence of an expense per say, they'll just pay out? (didn't keep any receipts)
2. This is separate to claiming the costs right, so I can claim this from both insurance providers without commiting fraud - corrrect? £100 per provider.
