Deadline for voluntary NI contributions April 2023

Hi. I want to backdate NI contributions for more than 6 years before 6 April 2023. Phoned DWP who said it would take 6 weeks to get a calculation to me to see whether I would but as I had registered an interest the 6 April 2023 would be extended. Anyone else had this reply?

I think you mean that you spoke with HMRC.  DWP will tell you which years will benefit your pension but you talk with HMRC to receive your calculation of amounts payable and the reference number etc.  HMRC has said on its customer forum that as long as it has an application before April then you can still pay, even it take until after the deadline to complete the process.

Why do they need to get back to you ?  Do you not have an on line tax account ? Or have you already reached state retirement ?
I have heard that mentioned before but without it in writing from an official source who knows.

I've not seen anything official, and I'd be a bit wary of taking DWP's word for it (if it was indeed them you spoke to) as the NI contributions side of things is actually dealt with by HMRC .....
