paying voluntary NIC by cheque

I sent cheques to HMRC yesterday, because I wanted to be clear which years, and explain the mix of C2 and C3 I was sending.   Also did not want to wait for the promised invoices (have been waiting 2 weeks for them.)
So - how long is the revenue taking to deal with the cheques by post?  Have they said whether they will accept the backdated NIC's to 2007, even if their processing delays go beyond April?

I don't know about actual payment but they have said on the customer forum (not seen elsewhere) that as long as you have set things in motion before 6 April, it doesn't matter if the process isn't concluded by 5 April.  I doubt that means that you can delay paying for ever after they have told you how much, lol
