Smartparking/ DRP

Hi. Not sure if anyone can advise. Smarparking issued 4 tickets saying I was unauthorised to park in the private car park where I was working. As my employer forgot to add my reg to their list I asked them to contact Smartparking to cancel my tickets. As my address was changed I didn’t get their first letters and was contacted months later by DRP asking £170 for each one. Unfortunately Smarparking is saying that it’s too late now and they gave my case to DRP and they can’t help. Now DRP is not helping and keep sending letters. DRP guy called and said that they are only to collect the money or I will have the court case.

I got all conversations in my emails where I am explaining everything and they are replying saying nonsense ( automated response or something). Should I worry or just ignore now on ?

Block their number. DRP cannot take you to court, Smart Parking are extremely unlikely to do so. Get back to your employer, their failure has put you in this mess!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

The fourth post of the NEWBIES thread explains exactly how to deal with debt collectors letters but to summarise that post - ignore them.

However, you do need to ensure that Smart Parking have your correct address.
Send an email to their Data Protection Officer instructing then to replace the address thay have for you with your current address, Instruct them to tell their subcontractors - e.g. debt collectors - to do likewise.

You also need to ensure that your Vehicle Registration Document (V5c) has the keeper's correct address. Can be updated online at the DVLA website.

    And next time...next time!!

Please come here first because you can see off any Smart Parking PCN with ONE email.  It would have been so easy...
