NCP Parking Notice and Trace Debt Recovery

Hello All,

I have a leased car and received an NCP parking notice via the lease company late last year.  The leasing company had passed on my details to NCP and in their letter told me to wait to hear from them and that the prompt payment discount would be reinstated.  I missed the letter from NCP when it arrived and some weeks passed before I came across it.  They were demanding the full payment and there was nothing about the discount but a note saying that “it is now too late for you to submit a representation against this notice”

Pretty much the next day I had a letter from Trace Debt Recovery demanding £170 along with the usual threats.

For what it’s worth I parked in a car park I had not used for a while.  I had tried to book online and used the chatbot to establish that only a certain proportion of spaces were available for online booking.  Next I downloaded their app, registered my vehicle and a credit card before heading off to the car park.  On my return the following morning the usual payment machine I was familiar with was behind a roller shutter door, so I went to the car without passing any obvious means of payment.  I drove to the barrier which simply lifted to let me out and I remember thinking how convenient it was, assuming the ANPR system had clocked my registration and would be billing my credit card.  Not the case it seems!

I drafted a letter to Trace yesterday explaining the situation but figured that might not be the sensible thing.

Not sure what to do and I don’t see anything appropriate in the FAQs so hoping some kind soul will point me in the right direction please.

Thanks for looking and in advance for any advice

"I drafted a letter to Trace yesterday explaining the situation but figured that might not be the sensible thing."

Simply no point, Trace are only fake add-on debt collectors with ZERO powers, they are just part of the joke industry trying to extort money

    As Boat_to_Bolivia has said above

Do not attempt to guess as to the identity of the driver, never use terms such as I, he, she, brother, sister, mother next door
    From the Plain Language Commission:

"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"
  • Thanks for the suggestions guys.

My issue here is that I have not contacted anyone about this, neither NCP nor Trace and obviously the time for appeal has passed so what to do?  Simply sit and wait or contact NCP?

    Thanks in advance

You will hear something in due course I'm sure, but in the meantime just get on with your life.

Come back here if you get a LBCCC (Letter before County Court Claim) or a LOC (Letter of Claim).

You can SAR NCP. May as well know exactly what info they have on you and copies of ALL correspondence between you and NCP.
  • Thanks again,

If I make a SAR request is that not somehow attracting attention to myself?
  • I do have a letter from NCP showing my car registration when leaving the car park.  As explained, i registered for the app the previous day, entered  my reg and a credit card so assumed the barrier let me out on the back of them having the means to identify me and to charge accordingly.

Get on with your life, like we said.  Don't tell us about the debt letter chain, please.
