Hi is it possible to change from DD to Standing order same monthly amount. BG say they dont offer it? Do any Energy suppliers ? So I could switch I want more control.

Welcome to the forum.

You can pay full amount on receipt of a bill, but not do a standing order with a fixed amount like a direct debit.

Also you will pay 7% to 9% more if you don't pay by direct debit.

Standing orders are a fixed amount and wouldn't fit with a variable bill.  Plus, there is less consumer protection on a standing order and more work for the suppliers.  So, any direct debit discount would be removed.

Its a bit of an obsolete way of paying for things nowadays.

If you want more control the only real alternative is pay on receipt of bill, but as explained already, expect to pay more for your energy in doing so by upto 9%.

If an organisation makes an error with a DD you can get your bank to make a full and immediate refund under the DD Guarantee.

OVO do standing order but I cannot recommend them 

I know this because I was having a dispute with them  regarding my DD and they suggested SO

Immediately cancelled DD and set up Standing order to immediately receive a text from OVO (as bank had contacted them regarding DD cancellation) for new rates roughly 9% higher

Back to DD for me but next week I leave OVO

I believe BG don't offer that option any more on their new billing system, for whatever reason.
