We've had some wall lights fitted in our bedroom and the electricians fitted them but they don't do the remedial work to walls; which is fine 

I've done some filling but the cable sticks out at an annoying angle, which means when it gets the slightest jiggle it breaks off the filling below it

Ideally I'd like to use a flat head screwdriver to clear out 1cm more plaster higher up and fix the cable to the wall - is there some kind of u shaped bracket I can use for this? I don't think there is the sideways space for one of those ones you use outdoors with the nails in - any other solutions?

There are plastic cable clips, but they are for nails, not screws  and are too thick for you.
Personally, I'd use pieces of wide nylon cable ties and screw them to the wall on both sides of the cable. With the metal strap you can even dig out more of the plaster, fit the strap so the screws are below the wall level, then fill over the top so it just leaves the metal U shaped part sticking out

A P clip, either rubber coated, or a plastic one would do the job. Drill a hole in the wall for a yellow wall plug, and then use a small screw to hold it in place.

The wall lights are already installed, you can see it with the cover on. I've managed to get a few cable clips on though higher up which has sorted it out kept it still and have refilled it ready to sand again, thanks all

Maybe you can see it, but others can’t. Maybe a photo further back would have explained it better.

You can definitely see it, I didn't think I'd need to prove it 😂 it would only get worse as it was moved around for painting etc, this part came off just taking the cover off to sand the filler. As we'll have to undercoat the wall and give it a few coats of paint on the filler and the whole wall, it would have looked even worse without improving the situation 

Now held on securely with 3 cable clips and refilled ready for sanding.
