All the data supporting the various indices (CPI, CPIH, RPI, etc) are published on the ONS site, so you can import the raw data sets into Excel (other spreadsheets are available) and play with them to your heart's content....
Anyone know if there is a website which will tell me the average annual inflation of say the past three, four or five years?
Are you looking for the Governments favoured measure of inflation (CPIH), it has recently changed from CPI. CPI is likely to be lower than your real inflation. When the BBC did a link that allowed people to measure their personal inflation rate, RPI was much more realistic for me.

Yes I suspect RPI might be the moost realistic measure. What I am trying to find is an Average Annual figure for say a period of the last four years.
Missed it when I first looked at that but having checked again it does exactly what I want. Enter the period as the last four years, click 'Show Amount' and underneath it displays: 'Inflation averaged nn% a year.'
