Euro Car Parks misleading email re penalty charge

In August 2022 I received a parking charge notice from Euro car parks. I didn’t actually receive the original, this was the higher rate second letter. I appealed this using their online form. I received an email
back ok 19/10/22. The email said :

Please see attached.

Please take the required action as detailed in the correspondence.

Thanking you in advance.

Kind Regards

Parking Charge Notice Department

So of course I open the attached correspondence and it’s the supporting document that uploaded in my appeal. I was confused as to why they sent that back to me. So I was unclear at that point as to if I’d won or lost the appeal since their correspondence was my document and definitely didn’t contain instructions of any further action from them. Anyway I then check the on their website and act as if I’m going to pay by putting in my PCN number and registration. Nothing comes up, it can’t be found, so I take from that that it has been cleared. Great! Until today 3 months later I receive a final notice letter dated 8/12/22 and a lovely letter from a debt recovery company dated 10/1/23.  The Royal Mail strikes have cause serious delays so I’m only starting to get post now since November! So I rang the debt collection company but of course no help there. They just say the can’t discuss and can only take payment. So what can I do now? Should I take my chances with court as I believe  their email was super misleading plus due to the mail delays It’s now escalated to debt collector. I definitely shouldn’t have to pay the higher amount. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I feel like just ignoring any letters from them now.

I would complain to the BPA though, about the way they mishandled your appeal.  I think ECP will cancel once the BPA ask about it.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
