I need to put some blinds up- have I got the right gear?

It's an inside mount installation and I've found a how to vid on YT which recommends using a 6mm masonry drill bit, these are the tools I have in the garage (no idea where the drill came from, but it seems, to work).

Can I drill into a wall using one of these bits?

Has the drill got a hammer setting?  Have you got 6mm rawl plugs?  Screws?

Good shout re rawl plugs- I don't. I have a screwfix 2 mins away a 6mm masonry drill bit is £1.09 so will get one and some plugs.

The drill does have a hammer setting on it- is that best to use?

It looks like there's both a 6mm drill bit (drills on the right) and plugs in the box. Drill size is stamped on the drill. Not the black drills, they're twist bits. Good luck with the drill. It looks about 20 years old. Use the hammer setting for masonry.

    Good afternoon OP
If you are drilling into a lintel, you may need more than drill type
Having a good masonry drill is key to this. You may also need a metal drill.
Take care and I hope you get a straightforwardly good job.
    Thanks

PS - I always start off with a thinner drill bit eg 3mm, made it much easier for me, thanks again

When you pop the wall plugs in the holes you've drilled, tap them in say ~10mm below the surface of the plaster. That way, when you put the screw in, the bulk of the plug is gripping the brick/concrete and not the plaster. You might need to use a slightly longer screw though.

What is the wall construction ?

    Solid plus plaster ?

Solid plus dab and plaster board ?

    Internal stud wall ?

That will determine what tools and fixings you need

If you are drilling through a concrete lintel, and then need to change bits because you have hit metal, it means you will be drilling through the re-bar.

Not many homes have windows on internal walls.

Some houses were built with the inside skin timber frame. Barratt particularly built their show home that way for speed

Nowadays a lot of new builds are timber frame, with a masonry external skin.
