My friend is a single parent and has a full time job, last year a company contacted her to say she may be entitled to help with upgrading her boiler and insulation in the house, she was accepted as her boiler is over 20 years and has many issues, and she is on tax credits so they carried out a survey and the company went ahead and booked her in for underfloor insulation all under a government energy scheme, she got the insulation then they said it would be a different team to carry out the boiler replacement, and they would be in touch with a date, however that did not happen, so she contacted them and the number was dead. She got in contact with other companies carrying out similar but when they found out she had a partial install (ie the floor insulated) they said they couldn’t do anything for her. So she contacted Citizens advice and they said they couldn’t help, but gave her numbers of companies who do interest free boiler loans, which she can’t afford, surely if she qualified for the grant someone could help, as its not her fault the first company appear to have ceased trading. What can she do?
