Before I go back to the shop in the morning, can someone please just reassure me I’m not being completely stoopid?

I have a 15-10mm reducer. Fits the 10mm end happily, but the 15mm end is never going to go.

I’m not missing something obvious  and going to make a fool of myself - am I? It should just go ‘on’ like any other fitting?

Definitely 15mm pipe, all other fittings work…

It shouldn’t matter that they are probably different brands and purchased at different times/shops does it?

The 15mm end is designed to go in a fitting - you'll need a 15-15 coupler to join it onto the end of a 15mm pipe.

    It's a reducer, not a coupler

    Yorkshire Copper Solder Ring Fitting Reducer F 15mm x M 22mm   -  reducer

Flomasta Solder Ring Reducing Coupler 15 x 10mm  - coupler

    (solder rings are optional).

ETA: in fact, I wouldn't call what you have a 'reducer' - it converts 10 into 15 (increases the diameter)

We are born naked, wet and hungry...Then things get worse. :(

.withdrawal, NOT withdrawel ..bear with me, NOT bare with me
.definitely, NOT definately ......separate, NOT seperate
    should have, NOT should of
    .....guaranteed, NOT guarenteed

Everyday is a school day. Thank you so much both. As the 10mm end is fine I just assumed the 15mm should be the same.

I usually have no problem asking for advice from the shop counter, but would have felt really foolish saying ‘this doesn’t work’ if it isn’t designed to. 🤪

Well, I wouldn't have known about that and I wouldn't have felt bad about asking advice about it.

Anyone who looks down on you for querying anything like that has their own problems, I think.

Oh its just more a confidence thing with me that’s all. They are a friendly bunch, but it is also a trade counter and I don’t always want to look daft. Usually I bend their ear about which parts I need, but occasionally I get imposter syndrome and just feel like a silly girl. All in my mind.😆

you needed a 15mm to 10mm straight coupler. What you have is a 10mm to 15mm reducer." options exchange it for a coupler or use a 15mm staight connector on what you have

Got myself some 15mm straight couplers for a few pennies and did it that way. That’s all :-)
