Gas Usage Whilst Away
Hello!
I am checking my parents gas/electric via their online account. From November 27th to December 20th there was no one at home, so I was expecting the amount of gas and electric to ne minimal - standard charges and electric for the freezer etc. But every few days there is a spike in the gas usage, which makes no sense since there has been no one home to run the hot water or put the heating on. Can anyone enlighten me on what thus might be? It equates to just under £1 of extra cost.

I have gone back to June when they were last away and there is similar activity.

Hot water in the tank (assuming there is a tank) still cools over time. Even in June.cadence said:

Are the spikes a bit less frequent during the summer?0 -
No tank. Spikes are exact in June and December.k_man said:

Might be a coincidence, but the gas usage of 11.28kwh is exactly 1 unit on the meter, so is it just a small daily use that adds up to 1 unit every 5 or 6 days and moves the meter?2
