Getting off a pre-payment electric meter.

Looking for some advice.

I moved into a house with a pre-payment electricity meter 4 months ago, I want to get on to a normal meter to get better tariffs. I have been told that a smart meter is not an option for where I live, which makes sense because there is no phone signal here.

Scottish Power has told me they can only change the meter once I am able to get a smart meter. No idea when that will be possible.

Am I stuck on a pre-payment meter? Would I have the same problem with another energy supplier?

You should be able to get a meter change even though the meters won't work in smart mode. You could then use them as normal credit meters sending in monthly meter reads yourself. I'd change suppliers if I were you and try again.

If Scottish power are refusing to change the meters to credit meters put in a complaint then if they still won't change them go through resolver with a complaint and after 8 weeks take it to the ombudsman. IMHO they can change the meters but are unwilling to do so because you will pay more with a prepayment meter. If your credit is good then you should win and they will have to change the meters. The no phone signal is BS.
Someone please tell me what money is
