Back in July I returned a sewing machine to a vendor via parcelforce. The machine was worth £1000, I paid £50 to cover insurance.
The sewing machine arrived damaged. I started a claim. After I uploaded photos, documents, invoices (repeatedly) eventually parcelforce offered me £500  compensation, but that only covers the cost of repairs, which the vendor  will pay for. I refused and have requested £1500 be refunded. They say they'll "get back to me"
But its a month later.
Where can I take this further?

If it's worth £1000 why do you think you should get £1500?

Sewing machine worth £1000 but you want £1500.
You also say they have offered £500, which will cover the cost of repairs. As such, I can't see what he issue is. What else are you trying to claim for?
Seems like parecelforce are being reasonable and putting you back in the position had the damage not occured.

I'm not paying for the repairs. The vendor is.  I paid £50 postage to cover the insurance of the value of the machine, which was £1000

£1000 for the cost of the machine. The vendor is responsible for the repairs.

Why were you returning the sewing machine to the vendor?

I'm confused. If you returned the sewing machine to the vendor, then surely you are due a refund from the vendor, and the vendor is due £500 to repair the item. Why would Parcel Force give you the £1000, and also £500 to repair the item?
  • At a glance PF say they pay the price/cost which should probably be price in the OPs case.

OP gets £1000 for the machine, PF get a broken machine (should they want it), vendor doesn’t need anything in this equation.

OP check the terms of the compensation, if it doesn’t mention them only paying out for repairs then you would be due the £1000 but that’s all. :)

Doesnt it depend on the reason for the return? If the OP is returning a sewing machine that doesnt work, then it won't be valued at £1000.

Why would parcelforce want the machine? It's back with the vendor. I'd be happy with £1000 as that's why I paid £50 for the insurance. Maybe I needn't be concerned about the vendors repair costs though.
