Black Friday's no longer just 24 hours of deals with the offers now usually starting a week or two before the day itself (25 November) and lasting until Cyber Monday on 28 November. The event has got bigger and bigger but times have got harder and so are you planning to get involved this year? The current cost of living crisis has meant greater belt tightening for many - so we want to know if you're planning to shop in the Black Friday sales this year and, if so, how much you intend to spend?

I'd love to be able to get bargains but unfortunately the things I need are never on sale on Black Friday - or any other time, come to think of it.

I've never been able to get a bargain. Now it's so easy to check online and see what, if anything, may be a bargain for me. Nothing. Even when businesses put things online days before the official BF and CM. And also, clothes retailers never have my size in things because I'm 'average' and so everything's usually sold out before I manage to login.

Plus there's Martin's saying about 'do I need it, or do I just want it?' and whichever - can I afford it? So I'm going to be good and not spend anything. On anything.

It's another American custom that we've adopted. And it's not a good one, as most of them aren't. Next thing we'll be celebrating Thanksgiving at the end of November. Celebrating what, I'm not sure.

In the meantime, I'm happy just to not bother. I'll sit here and nurse my piggy bank.   :)

Quite agree.  Except that Thanksgiving should be in early October rather than the end of November.  But that's a result of being from the better side of the border.

I buy things when I need them.  Not when a retailer thinks it's time to get rid of excess stock before the Christmas season.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
