i need to be able to search for free wifi sites for my holiday around the uk
can anyone suggest a good site?...ive tried a few i found on google but they seem a bit rubbish

Don't think you're going to find one. Compiling a decent database would rely on everyone who offered free wifi to post their details, which would be hard to arrange, or sending teams on a very thorough search of every town in the UK, which would be even harder. Some national chains have free wifi, such as Wetherspoon, McDonalds and Costa, and you could probably find branch directories on their sites. Otherwise you'll just have to keep an eye out for independent bars & coffee shops with wifi signs up.0
