Son Leaving College

First time poster.
My son who is 18 has decided college isn't for him and is dropping out to do an apprenticeship(not got yet).
I am not working and get UC for which my son is on it as he was in full time education.
So I need to inform UC that he no longer is in education.
I have read some conflicting information and trying to get some more concrete advice.
So I have been told two things, one is the moment I tell UC they stop the money I get for him immediately
The other is I have been told it runs on to something like March, May or August depending on what comes sooner.
Does anyone know the actual answer?
Same question for child benefit
Either way I will be informing them on Monday but just trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at

Has he registered with the appropriate people for an apprenticeship? If so then i think this may retain the entitlement. I would suggest that you don't call DWP until you know more as the person you speak to is not likely to know the answer and they may suspend your payments. When does your current UC assessment period end?"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "1

Thank you for the replies.
I have been getting universal credit for about 6 months.
Yes the apprenticeship is done through an apprenticeship company etc.0 -
I couldn't find anything for UC but under tax credits as long as he is registered for an apprenticeship you should be ok for up to 20 weeks, there are much more knowledgeable folks about that can find the UC legislation.
Info here but I can't get the link to work, hope you have better luck https://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/education-and-training-overview-universal-credit"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

When does the apprenticeship start? If he's being paid for this then your UC child element and child benefit will stop.
