So I should include my own photos rather than having PPC provide proof to the contrary? My phone doesn't appear to be able to do timestamps, can I add them to the image on my computer?Umkomaas said:Make sure the photos are date and time stamped, otherwise POPLA will disregard them, and will often accept PPC stock photos of their signs. This car park was a lot better when you collected token on entry, before you leave pay at machine with token drive to barrier insert token and bye, i wonder who suggestion it was to change system?1

You can add timestamps by screenshotting each image and using that version. Put the images into the appeal document as pictures, so the POPLA appeal is ONE document that reds like a pretty, illustrated storybook that even the most clueless new wet-behind-the-ears POPLA Assessor can follow.
Do NOT use close up photos of any signs. You don't want to help the PPC! Only distance ones, and pics that show there are no signs at the entrance that face the driver, that sort of evidence is what you want.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

My phone doesn't appear to be able to do timestamps, can I add them to the image on my computer? If it's one of the 'premium' range mobile phones like iPhone, Samsung, etc there will be a way of doing it. But for any phone, especially the above, do a search on Google for how to do it. The metadata which includes the date/time stamps is lurking in the background, it just needs pulling through and embedding in the actual photos. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

It's a Google Pixel 7: I had a look through the camera app but there's no setting for it. There's probably a third party app I could get to do it, but I've already taken the pictures so I've just stamped them on my PC with the time/date from the EXIF info metadata tagged into the image.Umkomaas said:My phone doesn't appear to be able to do timestamps, can I add them to the image on my computer? If it's one of the 'premium' range mobile phones like iPhone, Samsung, etc there will be a way of doing it. These are all the signs you'd see entering and exiting the car park:

Not a single one actually mentions the parking charge (not that you can tell in these photos taken from the distance you'd see them in a car).
I've added these into the appeal within the signage section (of the version of the text near the bottom of the previous page). Think I should be good to send now?1 -
Yes, you will win on 'no keeper liability' anyway, as long as you have't implied who was driving.
E.g. when adding photos of signs you DON'T put 'I went BACK to the car park...' obviously!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Quick result! Just got this via email:Very pleased! Not sure if the shopping centre requested it was cancelled and just didn't tell me, or this is Horizon not contesting it. Either way, happy it's sorted!
The operator has contacted us and told us that they have withdrawn your appeal.
If you have already paid your parking charge, this is the reason your appeal will have been withdrawn. Unfortunately, you cannot pay your parking charge and appeal, which means that POPLA’s involvement in your appeal has ended. You will not be able to request a refund of the amount paid in order to resubmit your appeal to us.
If you have not paid your parking charge, the operator has reviewed your appeal and chosen to cancel the parking charge. As the operator has withdrawn your appeal, POPLA’s involvement has now ended and you do not need to take any further action.
Thanks again for the help everyone!
