Hi,
I have searched here and Disability Rights and gov.uk and can't find a definitive answer.

Re: claiming New Style ESA - Is the only advantage that I would get better NI contributions? I see ESA for 25+years individual is 77/week and deducted from UC so to me I would not be financially better off now.

Thanks.

There's no financial gain to claiming New style ESA and UC at the same time because it's deducted in full from any UC entitlement. The only difference is it pays class 1 NI where as UC only pays class 3.
You will only be able to claim it if you've paid the correct amount of NI contributions in tax years April 2019 to March 2021.

… I asked if I should apply for ESA and was ignored by work coach in person and in journal query.
Unfortunately DWP staff are benefits administrators and not advisers
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
