I purchased a car from a friend today and he cancelled the tax on it this afternoon. He's sent off the new keeper detail thing online and I have the new keeper slip v5c/2. 

I have tried to tax the car this evening but it's telling me the details couldn't be found. I entered the 12 digit doc ref number from the slip as I havent got the v11 full log book yet. It just wont let me do it. I tried calling the help number but surprise surprise they are busy and unable to take the call.

In the meantime, I've parked the car at work in the secure car park, but should I sorn it now ? 

How can I tax the car? THanks in advance!

Tax is cancelled anyway when registered keepers details are changed.

Maybe keep trying for system to update.

I would say, if you can't take it you won't be able to SORN it.

Thanks. I've just looked in the case with the manuals etc and found another slip where the code worked
