Hi I'm new on this forum so forgive me if this has been asked before. 
My wife and I receive Universal Credit, does anyone know if I lift £4000 from my pension pot will it affect our benefits.

    Please can you provide more information. What do you mean by lift? Do you mean take an income / withdraw money?
    If so, it depends how you take that money from the pension fund. If it is taken as a one off lump sum payment, then it will be treated as captial, and if it takes the amount of capital you and your wife have over £6000, you will need to declare it to UC and it will reduce the amount of benefit you can claim.
    If it is taken as a regular payment as income (not a lump sum payment), then UC will treat it as unearned income and it will be deducted from any UC entitlement in the month in which it was received.
    Either way, you should declare it to UC as it will not be picked up automatically at the time you receive it (but will be picked up on any later checks).
