Does anybody know if, with 24+ years of NCB, I can actually split this in two to cover a pair of cars with up to 12 years NCB each?

thank you

No, but you could speak to your insurer as to whether they will give an introductory NCD for the second policy.

Also 24+ years doesn't really exist in motor insurance. Many stop recognising at 9 years and most by 15.

Thank you for that, and it is the main reason I am asking as my current insurer only gives me 9 years NCB at most.

What is the purpose of the second car? Classic or summer car, another main car?

Not that it matters but when you leave them you'll only have proof of nine years no claims.

And even if you have 9+ years no claims on two separate vehicles, a claim against one policy hits the other as well so heads they win, tails you lose.
Still puzzled after 17 years on MSE why people sign up and post to find solutions to problems they could have easily avoided by searching the forums in the first place.WD40 is not a panacea or lubricant. Stop spraying it everywhere!

In which case speak to your insurer for an introductory bonus or one of the specialist brokers who may also be able to facilitate an NCD duplication. Peter Best insurance is one such broker it may be worth trying.

Only in that the risk status changes. losing any NCD on one policy does not mean the other also loses NCD, just the risk profile changes before the discount is applied.
