Waywardgirl3 said:I’ve been feeling sorry for myself this morning looking through horsey peoples that I know instagrams and wondering how they afford their lifestyles, to compete at a high level, buy new horses etc.
I have a friend who just bought a beautiful equestrian property and has ponies, but I have no envy of her at all, as it just looks like so much hassle to me. Make friends with someone who has their own ponies, and just offer to help out.Save £12k in 2024 #29

Morning Ooooooh that is exactly the reason I came off Instagram! It upsets me seeing all these other horse-girls with the best horses, no veterinary problems, competing every weekend and having all the bling. It can have a massive impact on what you appreciate and feel successful for in your own life. We are all different and all come from different circumstances/backgrounds. I haven't looked back since deleting the app! I focus on what I have; albeit a broken horsey at the moment but I still love looking after her everyday regardless!
Have you considered an SOA yet? We may be able to help you save a little extra if we can see everything that comes in and out bill wise xDebt Free Date: 24th October 2023! £7402.10 Paid Off In 6 Months!

Yep you are right! Instagram is a highlights reel. The silly thing is I’ve had a horse before and experienced all the lows and stress that can come with it! But still you see these peoples lives through rose tinted glasses. I think it’s more the feeling of being so far financially behind people who are a similar age to me that gets me down. But I suppose very few people on Instagram are posting about the debt they are in. Might delete the app for a bit.An SOA could be good, I’ll look into posting one1

It is good to have things to aim for. I would limit the IG browsing though as it is completely false. People only post the good stuff on there and if you are the type of person who feels envious of that and will be tempted to make rash decisions it is better not to look on there at all.
Maybe look at cheaper options for catching up with friends like a walk as others have said or a movie/pizza/wine night at home rather than meals out.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. SO
14 days till payday!30 pounds spent on a riding lesson this morning - so expensive but really improved my mood! Definitely a luxury, I think with the amount of debt I’m in that at this stage I’m only going to be able to afford one or two a month.30 pound budget for dinner tonight and then that leaves my personal budget for the rest of the month at £3.71!
as I’ve mentioned before groceries come out of the joint account and I have half a tank of petrol so should be okay in terms of that.I also have some coffee shop vouchers through work so might utilise them for a free day date with my partner.Overall feeling positive today, still overwhelmed by how far I have to go but lots to be grateful for ❤️1 -
So payslips are out! I have 0 pennies in my personal account having sent all the last ones to savings so 5 nsds coming up for me!Budget for November done. I know there are quite a few ‘luxuries’ in there so please don’t be too harsh! I’ve tried stripping to the bone before and it just doesn’t work with my mental health - I crash and go on a shopping binge. The main goal atm is to avoid getting in more debt - baby steps! So total pay = 2270
broken down as follows
Mbna Loan - 365
Joint cc - 100
Klarna debt - 90 (my last ever payment of this!)
Joint account - 750 (this is my half of all mortgage, bills, groceries, pets etc - me and my partner transfer a proportional amount each month)AA- 10
Monzo plus - 5(this really helps me with budgeting)
Apple Music - 5
Phone - 50 (I know this is high but I’m stuck in a contract!)
Netflix -10
DVLA - 15
Gym - 20
Emergency fund - 100
Personal spends (try to save most of this but give it to myself due to problems with restriction as above) - 140
Car insurance - 75 (hoping this comes down in December!)
Petrol - 40
Prescription - 10
Gifts - 50
Christmas sinking fund - 50
Horse sinking fund -10(lol)
Riding lessons - 60
Bucket list trip 2023 - 315
Having written all this down I cannot believe how much is going this month on debt repayments - £555! Imagine what I could do with that once this is paid off! Depressing but motivation to keep going definitely.
