Clarification on my entitlement for the second col payment

Hi all,

I’ve read a few conflicting things regarding the second cost of living payment for people on Universal Credit.

The wording from the website is ‘You will be eligible for the second Cost of Living Payment of £324 if you were entitled to a payment (or later found to be entitled to a payment) of Universal Credit for an assessment period that ended in the period 26 August 2022 to 25 September 2022.’

Now for my assessment period
25 July to 24 August 2022 I had a nil award, date of payment for this period would have been 3rd September.

My assessment period
25 August to 24 September 2022 I was awarded £300, which was paid on the 3rd October.

The way I read the entitlement for UC, is that it goes off the last day of the assessment period and not the payment date. So, will I get the col payment due to the assessment period ending 24th sept I was entitled to £300 even though this wasn’t paid until the 3rd October?

Thanks in advance.

    From the Government website:
You will be eligible for the second Cost of Living Payment of £324 if you were entitled to a payment (or later found to be entitled to a payment) of Universal Credit for an assessment period that ended in the period 26 August 2022 to 25 September 2022.
If your assessment period ended on 24th September, and you were entitled to a UC payment (payment should have been received 30/9/2022) then you will qualify for the 2nd cost of living payment.

  • Thank you for clarifying, i was entitled to a UC payment in my assessment period ending 24th September, but the payment was the 3rd October.

My assessment periods always ends on the 24th of the month and the payment is the 3rd the following month.

The payment date is not the criteria. It's the assessment period ending within that date that matters.

Thank you, with my assessment period ending on the 24th sept then I should be entitled.
