Insurance in a false name - Stolen Identity - Advice

Looking for advice please, if we need to do anything.

My Father In Law has had two letters in two days informing him Insurance companies are cancelling car insurance policies taken out in his name. In both cases he has not taken out the Policy and has never Insured with the companies. One letter simply states about consequence of not having Insurance. He has phoned that company to inform them he does not have, or ever had Insurance with them. The second letter states that a policy 'may have been incepted using (his) personal details.'.

This follows on from about a month earlier where he spotted three fraudulent transactions on his Bank Account which he closed out within hours.

I have advise him to contact his car insurance to make them aware.

Any further advice?

Which vehicle are the policies covering?
Why did you close the bank account rather than report the fraud?

Neither letter did not state a vehicle covered. Simply a policy had been cancelled.

My statement was not clear about the Bank transactions. The transactions were closed down and the card 'stopping'. We did not close down the account. My bad description  :(

Your father needs to contact both the insurers to find out more details and confirm his innocence.

The issue if he just ignores it will be a loading to CUE and/or other databases that he's had insurance cancelled for non-payment or fraud etc. Insurance these days is too cheap to warrant material investigations etc and so his own true insurers see the CUE loading they are likely to simply cancel or void the policy themselves rather than try and make contact and ask for explanations etc.
