TalkTalk to Sky

Hi all
not too sure if this should be in here or not (so feel free to move it / direct me to the appropiate board accordingly).
We have sky + downstairs with a slave box in the main bedroom, however, am changing from TalkTalk in about 1 week or so.
My query is, as I have a Talktalk box in another bedroom (there is something I recorded onto it previously that I wish to keep), do I need to change that over to get a slave box as well or can I run both boxes into my tv (it will take two boxes) and switch between them or would I be better off getting a Free to air recordable box - rather than another slave unit?
