Storage of wills by executors

I am about to retrieve a will from the solicitor. The estate consists of money in bank accounts only -amounts below bank’s level for probate. There is no property and no inheritance tax so will not be applying for probate. What happens to the will when the estate has been distributed? Is it a public document?

If you don't need it for probate then it isn't a public document but I would hang on to it in case anyone challenges what you did with the assets1

Not if you haven't applied for probate but you would definitely need to keep hold of it for a period just in case someone comes along a challenges the will in the future.memyself28 said:I am about to retrieve a will from the solicitor.
