Parking Eye arranged for DCBL to collect £197 ccj dated 2017 no court paper recd
Carousell
My son has received letters from DCBL on behalf of Parking eye stating a county court judgement was upheld in 11.9.2017 and they are after a payment of £197 from him. Up until he received letters from DCBL he has received no correspondence from Parking Eye personally and no correspondence from County Court. A letter has been sent to DCBL recorded delivery asking them to furnish information of when the alleged offence occurred, vehicle registration and type of vehicle involved as none of this information was put in the letter from DCBL. He also asked for copies of the county court judgement issued against him. My son has now received another letter reminding him to pay up but again no information was forthcoming from them regarding the information he asked for. This alleged offence was 5 years ago. Any help advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Others be able to help more as I'm not much more experienced than you/your son, just a few weeks ahead with my own similar issue. If you read the newbies thread (link below) you'll get a lot of advice. Read the first bit, and then skim read to about half way down until you get to the section on "HAVE YOU FOUND OUT ABOUT A CCJ (JUDGMENT FOR CLAIMANT) AND NEED IT SET ASIDE?"https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822/newbies-private-parking-ticket-old-or-new-read-these-faqs-first-thankyou#latestI think a start point is obtaining the Particulars of Claim from the CCBC. Top Number on: https://www.find-court-tribunal.service.gov.uk/courts/county-court-business-centre-ccbcYou can then submit a Subject Access Request against the claimant to find out what information they have.

👆 Good advice 👆Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

@Carousell Has your son moved since the date of the alleged contravention?
If so, was the DVLA notified to update both licence and V5C documents to show the new address?
You (or rather he) need to check this because the PPC gets one crack of the whip at the DVLA to get keeper data, but they can use cheap trace services to find someone prior to filimg a CCBC claim.
If the PPC and/or their robolawyers sent the paperwork to an old address, he'd never have known about it, so couldn't appeal.
What's the car park location and PPC name please? We may have seen this car park and company before.1 -
Yes MothballsWallet he lived elsewhere during the alleged contravention which was 5 years ago and he moved back with us for a few years and is now living elsewhere. The only info he has is the letters from the DCBL which says their client is Parking Eye Ltd Claim no and date of judgement 11.09.2017. He doesnt know where the alleged offence took place, what vehicle reg and type of car he was supposed to ne driving as he has had a few different cars since 2017 five years ago. I doubt whether he took the trouble to let the DVLA know of his moving.0

Doubt that DCBLtd will send bailiffs, given this is not at HCEO level, only £197.
Trouble is, there is a whole year before it disappears off his credit record so he might want to set it aside, or sit tight and see if this is just a chase up exercise where DCB Ltd are just sending out letters for P/Eye and hoping to catch some people who are scared enough to pay.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

There was no information in DCBLs letter stating where the alleged offence took place, vehicle reg and make of vehicle or date and time. The only info they put in the letter was the amount owing £197 Parking Eye ref no and date of county court judgement. I have written to them asking for more info but all they have done is sent a reminder and not answered any questionsMothballsWallet said:@Carousell Has your son moved since the date of the alleged contravention?

Setting aside a CCJ costs £275 (and you DO NOT PAY THE £197). This is fully covered in the NEWBIES thread.
Personally I'd sit tight as this reads as a debt crawler exercise and not a real bailiff threat.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
