Estate enquiry

If a parent dies intestate and one of the children looks after that person's two dogs until they're rehomed permanently or sold, can the cost of their keep and insuring them be compensated for from the estate? No one else was willing to take them on or contribute to their keep though they meant a lot to their late owner.
Any advice appreciated.

Could be considered a cost to the estate until probate/admin is granted, if the executor agrees? Beyond that...............If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1

The beneficiaries will be first in line to administer they decide or take on the job of dealing with the animals .
Spouse or kids are the usual options for first dibs on adminitration.

It should be a chargeable expense against the estate. If the person looking after the dogs is also one of the administrators then it should be straight forward.0
