Probably just a rant..... eBay

I won an auction on eBay on the 14th and paid then too.  New clothes for holiday.  Looking at packing and realised not arrived.  Apparently the item was posted on the 25th!  I only know as I did the "not received yet" button.  Apparently I can't challenge this as it's not due until the 29th.

No communication from the seller - could be ill, indisposed, stuck in Dover but why not say if not going to post for ten days!

Obviously not returnable even if it arrives too late and I have to buy something else.

Grrr.

Sorry. Rant over

Sellers do have to put their despatch time on their listings, the last estimated delivery date will be based on that. Whilst eBay encourage sellers to post quickly, some sellers do seem to be very slow, it’s best to avoid these slow sellers .

Thanks @soolin.  There's probably a reason as the feedback doesn't suggest usually slow.  Just wish they had communicated.

I suspect some people don’t really care if they know in advance, and those that do mind would avoid sellers who show a long despatch time.

I’m currently looking through eBay for a particular item, there are lots of sellers some show an estimated delivery this Friday, some show August dates and as I need it fairly urgently I will choose one that has an earlier estimated delivery even if it costs me a bit more.

Ebay punishing sellers due to ridiculous delivery estimates.  Bought items over a Bank Holiday Weekend where the expected
delivery according to Ebay was Tuesday.

Downside to that is some sellers put extended delivery times to be safe even if the item is likely to arrive the next day.  As above sometimes
I need it quickly and trying to decide who will post quickly is not easy.
